So this month i’m dedicating my blogs to love, lust and everything in between, since media wise we will be in-undated with big fluffy hearts, puke-worthy advertising and all in the name of what???? Not love ( in my humble opinion)
So here’s a question for you…
What is love to you?
Here’s a few possibilties….
‘a strong emotion of regard or affection’ does that sum it up for you?
What about this one?”
Love is when you care about someone and want the best for them even if it means putting your needs last.”Hmmm….Putting your own needs last, i dunno, is that love? How does that work? You never get your needs met, you start resenting that person (deep down) and then eventually leave them because you fell out of love because you just couldn’t go one more day putting yourself last! Or worse you still put yourself last, they leave you because you are such a doormat!
Now this one’s a little more promising..
“What else is love but understanding and rejoicing in the fact that another person lives, acts, and experiences otherwise than we do…?”
And this one…”Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence” But does that means it is stupid to love….hmmm.
Iris Murdoch said we only learn to love by loving…and this, for me, is getting more to heart of it, because surely love is an action.”The first duty of love is to listen..” Yes promising. Not always easy that one is it? And i love this one…”To be brave is to love someone unconditionally, without expecting anything in return.”
But my favourite definition, perhaps not the best, or most true, but makes real sense to me is this.
“Love is caring for another person enough to let them choose what they want for their life with out any obligation to please you.”
